Developing and empowering emerging leaders within the firm since 2016
Weightmans is celebrating 10 years of its Leadership Academy, helping build its leaders of today, and the leaders of tomorrow.
Launched in 2016, the academy has grown considerably and aims to develop and empower emerging leaders within the firm with the skills and insights needed to navigate and succeed in business.
Over the last decade over 600 of Weightmans’ people from across all areas of the firm have come through or are currently enrolled in one of the academy’s various programmes, including some of the firm’s most senior leaders.
And this is just the beginning – with the Leadership Academy expected to evolve and expand in the coming year with new programmes – further empowering the next generation of leaders.
Leadership Academy
Helen Taylor, HR Director, said:
"One of the things I am most proud of is the investment we make in helping our people realise their potential. The Leadership Academy reflects our belief that great leadership is not defined by job title, but by a commitment to continuous learning, growth and making a positive impact on those around us. Whether someone is at the very beginning of their career or preparing for one of the firm's most senior leadership roles, we want to equip them with the confidence, skills and opportunities to succeed. Seeing colleagues grow, develop and go on to achieve things they may never have thought possible is incredibly rewarding, and the Leadership Academy plays a vital role in helping us build the next generation of leaders for Weightmans."
Caley Collins, Principal Associate, currently in the academy, said:
“It is about much more than developing leadership skills; it has developed a real sense of teamwork within our cohort, where we all bring different experiences, perspectives and areas of expertise to the table. I think it says a lot about the firm that, for 10 years, it has continued to invest in this programme, and I feel very fortunate to be a part of it. I am really looking forward to seeing what the remainder of the course brings.”
The Leadership Academy offers several programmes based on where an individual is on their career path, allowing participants to cultivate essential leadership skills, unlock potential and drive impactful change to achieve high performance. Some of the programmes are also tailored and delivered in collaboration with Cambridge Judge Business School Executive Education.
Allison Wheeler-Héau, Director of Executive Education, Cambridge Judge Business School, said:
"We are proud to have worked with Weightmans in supporting the development of its leaders through our programmes at Cambridge Judge Business School Executive Education. Weightmans' continued investment in leadership shows a clear focus on developing future-ready leaders who drive performance, embrace change, and create positive impact across the organisation. We congratulate Weightmans on reaching the 10-year milestone for its Leadership Academy and are delighted to have played a part in that journey."
